I have noted that there seem to be some problems with chinese elms this year. In one particular case the tree had lost all it's leaves and some of the smaller branches were brittle but the tree was alive. I checked this by gently scraping the cambium (outer skin) on the trunk. I recommend planting the tree outside. i have used this technique myself and found it very beneficial.
Recently I was approached by someone with some questions on teaching. In this particular case it was about someone with dyslexia. It seemed to me that they were inferring that dyslexia is a learning disability. I felt I needed to emphasize that I disagree. Many extremely talented and high achievers have been dyslexic. I also mentioned the need for individual assessment of ability and motivation.
